Gaelscoil Ruairí is a multidenominational Gaelscoil, founded in 2019, with its first pupils spending much of their first year in the library of Gaelscoil Uí Fhiaich due to planning difficulties.
Now situated on the Moyglare Road, Mariavilla, Maynooth, the school had quickly outgrown its previous modular building, and with huge demand for additional spaces, a new two-storey, state-of-the art replacement building was delivered by Asset Accommodation.
From access on-site to Building Control Amendment Regulations (BCAR) submission, the project was completed over the 2023 summer school holidays.
Gaelscoil Ruairí has increased its footprint with the completion of a new two-storey modular building by Asset Acommodation. Replacing the previous single-storey modular building, the nearly zero-energy building (nZeb) now spans 350sqm, including SEN provision, office accommodation and teaching space, with the addition of a bright and colourful SEN outdoor play area which is situated to the front of the school.
Built to future-proof the school for growth and maximise energy efficiency, the highly sustainable building welcomed its first pupils in September 2023, and was completed onsite in a remarkable timeframe of just seven weeks.
M & E Project Specidications:
Heating - Plumbing, ventilation and installation of a Split Air Conditioning Heating and cooling system. Room controls have been installed with ease of use in mind.
Plumbing - Boosted cold water is provided to all cold water outlets throughout the building with non-concussive taps to all wash hand basins within the toilet areas. Hot water is provided by efficient point-of-use water heaters.
Extract Ventilation - S&P extract fans are controlled by presence detectors.
Efficient LED light fittings throughout, with programmable PIR presence detection sensors.

With access to the site only possible from the end of June 2023, the speed of installation was incredibly important to ensure completion of the project brief,
and that pupils of Gaelscoil Ruairí had a modern, sustainable school building to return to following the summer holidays.
In addition to the build and installation of the modular two-storey building, works were carried out to include the removal of a septic tank and installation of a foul pump drainage system which was connected to the mains sewer. A SEN play area was installed at the entrance of the building.
