From the initial contract of works towards the end of the 2023 school term, to the building’s handover early in the new school year, this project was delivered at pace but with no compromise on quality.

Consisting of three classrooms with adjacent toilet facilities, Asset Accommodation helped Errigal College expand its footprint in just under three months, maximising the school holidays to carry out siteworks and installation, whilst delivering minimal disruption to the school community.

Spanning over 210sqm, the low carbon in-operation expansion project delivered three additional classrooms for the growing College that are sustainable, have a Building Energy Rating (BER) of A, and are manufactured offsite to zero-energy building (NZEB) standards.

With plans underway to develop a new site and building for Errigal College, the school simply needs more space. September 2023 marked the College’s biggest-ever intake of first-year pupils, and in just two years, its school population has doubled.

In June 2023, Asset Accommodation was given the go-ahead to design and manufacture a three-classroom block for the new school term… in just eleven weeks!

From the order was received to the building’s handover, the project was delivered on budget and within the rapid timeframe. This included site preparations, enabling works, installation of the modular classroom blocks and the connection of services onsite.

The new classroom block was connected to the College’s existing drainage and sewerage, and a ramp was installed to ensure the new building adhered to all statutory requirements.

From start to finish, this was one of Asset Accommodation’s fastest installs, delivering much-needed additional space and facilities for the school community at Errigal College.

M & E Project Specidications:

Heating - Plumbing, ventilation and installation of a Split Air Conditioning Heating and cooling system. Room controls have been installed with ease of use in mind.

Plumbing - Boosted cold water is provided to all cold water outlets throughout the building with non-concussive taps to all wash hand basins within the toilet areas. Hot water is provided by efficient point-of-use water heaters, along with height-adjustable sinks.


High-end electrical fit-out, exceeding building control requirements.

Efficient LED light fittings throughout, with programmable PIR presence detection sensors.

Call alarm system throughout the building, connected to school’s security system.

Siteworks:

  • We were requested to deliver 3no. classrooms with toilets in a fast track manner to meet the unexpected rise in intake for the following term

  • Meeting the handover date was critical as additional classes had nowhere to go

  • We carried out all enabling works, as well as steps and ramps in extremely short timeframe

  • Connections on site to ESB, Data, fire, intruder and local drainage

  • All utility connections under this contract were installed to assist with a future project that is following closely behind
